James Ward will link up with Great Britain's Davis Cup squad having lost 10 matches in a row after suffering defeat in the first round of the St Remy Challenger.
The British number four hasn't recorded a victory since reaching the third round at Wimbledon, but he has still earned a place in the five-man team, which was revealed on Tuesday, to face Australia in the Davis Cup semi-finals later this month.
However, he has missed out on an opportunity to get back to winning ways after slumping to a disappointing 6-1 6-4 loss to Ilya Ivashka.
The Londoner dropped serve to the world number 430 on three occasions and the setback is likely to see him drop further down the world rankings.
