Roberto Bautista Agut has seen off Richard Gasquet in straight sets to make it through to the third round of the Paris Masters.
Both men showed plenty of resistance in the opener as break points proved hard to come by, but 11th seed Bautista Agut broke late on to win the set 6-4.
The Spaniard then took control in the second by moving into a 4-1 lead before he sealed his progress 6-4 6-2 with little fuss.
Bautista Agut will now face Milos Raonic in the next round following the Canadian's hard-fought victory over Jack Sock.
