David Ferrer will take on Andy Murray in the semi-finals of the Paris Masters after sealing a 6-3 6-7(8) 6-2 victory over John Isner.
The Spaniard had a positive start by saving two break points and then snatching Isner's serve immediately afterwards.
From that point on, games went by way of serve until Ferrer broke again to take a one-set lead in France.
It was a tight encounter in the second set as both players were able to hold serve, but the breakthrough finally came in the eighth game when Ferrer broke to take a 5-3 lead.
The Spaniard needed to hold serve to wrap up the match, but he failed to do that as Isner did enough to trouble his opponent and switch the momentum.
Following a surge from Isner, the set was decided by a tie-break, in which both players lost serve twice until Isner broke to draw the contest level.
Despite launching a comeback in the second set, Isner struggled in the third as Ferrer broke twice to take a 4-1 lead before easing his way to victory.
