Kei Nishikori has progressed to the third round of the Paris Masters with a thrilling victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The Japanese player saved two match points in the third and decisive set's tie-break to get the better of Tsonga 1-6 7-6(4) 7-6(7) in the second round.
Nishikori struggled to make an impact in the opening set and went down 6-1, but he recovered in the second and won it on a tie-break.
The 23-year-old lost two of his service points in the third set but eventually won it on a tie-break, saving his French opponent's second match point at 7-6 with a second serve ace in the process.
The defeat saw Tsonga's hopes of qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals extinguished.
