Stanislas Wawrinka has booked his place in the third round of the Paris Masters with a straight-sets win over Austria's Dominic Thiem.
The third seed opened up a 2-0 lead early in the opening set, but Thiem broke back in the seventh game on his way to making it 4-4.
Wawrinka then saved a break point before going 5-4 up, and the Australian Open champion was able to close out the set 6-4 with another break late on.
The Swiss squandered a match point in the second, but he eventually sealed his progress 6-4 7-6(6) to set up a meeting with Kevin Anderson in the next round.
