Stanislas Wawrinka kept his chances of qualifying for next week's ATP World Tour Finals in London alive thanks to a 6-3 3-6 6-3 victory over Feliciano Lopez in the second round of the Paris Masters this afternoon.
It appeared that Switzerland's Wawrinka was going to record a routine win when he claimed the opening set in just 34 minutes.
However, Lopez responded positively in the second set and won through by the same scoreline, having also done it two minutes quicker than Wawrinka.
An early break at the start of the deciding set handed the advantage to Wawrinka, though, and having held off the challenge of his Spanish opponent while serving, he capitalised on that lead to wrap up the win.
