Gilles Simon has come from a set down to beat David Goffin 6-7(6) 7-5 6-2 in the first round of the Aegon Championship at Queen's.
It was an even opening set between the pair, which required a tie-breaker to determine a victor. That was also a tight battle, but 24-year-old Goffin eventually won through 8-6.
It seemed that he was going to claim the second set in a straightforward fashion when he opened up a 3-0 lead, only for Simon to draw himself level.
Goffin then went on to earn himself two match points while leading 5-4 on the Simon serve, but the Frenchman clawed his way back and eventually won the the next three games in succession to force a decider.
The Frenchman quickly got a break on the board in the third and final set to leave his opponent chasing the match, which soon forced another error from Goffin to leave Simon comfortably serving for the set.
Simon will face Australia's Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round.
