Ana Ivanovic has booked her place in the quarter-finals of the China Open courtesy of a three-set victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Neither woman was imposing behind their own serve in the first set, but Ivanovic broke Kuznetsova four times to the Russian's three to claim it 7-5.
The opening three games of the second were all breaks as well, but Kuznetsova, a two-time winner of the tournament in Beijing, then steadied herself, holding her serve with little fuss to level the match 6-4.
Ivanovic dominated the decider, winning five of the last six games to clinch victory 6-2 and wrap up her ninth straight victory over Kuznetsova on the WTA Tour.
Ivanovic will face Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova after she upset US Open champion Flavia Pennetta earlier today.
