Caroline Garcia has caused a shock at the Mexico Open by knocking out second seed Eugenie Bouchard thanks to a 3-6 6-4 6-1 victory in the quarter-finals.
Bouchard didn't have it all her own way in the first set as both players tested each other on their respective serves in a tight opening to the match.
Despite a number of breaks of serve being conceded by both competitors, it was Bouchard who made the crucial breakthrough late in the first set to take the lead.
Garcia improved her first service percentage in the second set but she still found it difficult to hold, with breaks of serve continuing to be a common theme.
The French player took full advantage of a couple of errors from Bouchard to claim the second set 6-4.
A tight encounter ended in surprising fashion as Garcia dominated the decider to punish Bouchard and earn a spot in the final four of the tournament.
