Marin Cilic has eased into the second round of the Madrid Open with a straight-sets win over Portugal's Joao Sousa.
The Croatian was dominant throughout the one-sided encounter as he defeated his opponent 6-1 6-1 with just 55 minutes on the clock.
Cilic, 25, will now face Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu for a spot in the third round.
Qualifier Mathieu will be playing his first match of the tournament against Cilic after receiving a bye in the first round.
