Dan Evans has registered another excellent win at the Surbiton Trophy by seeing off Mats Moraing in the second round.
The former British number two is looking to make quick headway up the world rankings after a year-long drugs ban, but the Birmingham-based hitter looked up against it against big-serving Moraing, who sits at 153rd in the ATP standings.
However, the German's 16 aces were largely cancelled out by 10 double faults and it enabled Evans to create as many as seven break points throughout the contest.
Evans needed a tie-break to come through the opener, but one break was enough in the second to seal a 7-6 6-3 victory in just under 80 minutes.
As a result of the success, Evans has secured a return to the world's top 650 and another triumph over Jurgen Melzer in the last eight will result in more significant progress during the first week of the grass-court season.
