Kyle Edmund has moved a step nearer to ending 2015 inside the world's top 100 with a three-set victory over Andrea Collarini in the first round of the Montevideo Challenger.
On Sunday, Edmund picked up his third second-tier title of the year in Buenos Aires to equal his best position in the ATP standings, and his victory over qualifier Collarini has boosted his hopes of a career high by the end of the week.
The 20-year-old started slowly against the Argentine hitter, dropping his serve twice in a one-sided opener, but he fought back to run out a 1-6 6-3 6-4 winner.
Edmund, who has been selected for Great Britain's squad for the Davis Cup final with Belgium, will now play Christian Garin in the last 16.
