Fabio Fognini recorded a 4-6 7-6 6-2 victory over Federico Delbonis to win the German Championship in Hamburg this afternoon.
Argentine qualifier Delbonis, who caused a shock by knocking out former world number one Roger Federer at the semi-final stage, required just one break of serve to claim the opening set.
It then appeared that he was heading for a routine victory when he opened up a 4-1 lead in the second set. However, Fognini responded by winning three games in succession to level up proceedings.
The set eventually entered into a tie-breaker, which Italy's Fognini claimed with a 10-8 success.
That placed the 26-year-old in the ascendancy and having broken Delbonis early on, he was able to ease to his second career title.
