Richard Gasquet is through to the quarter-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open, but was forced to fight hard for a win over Albert Ramos.
The charismatic Frenchman set up a potential last-eight tie with Novak Djokovic with a 6-2 5-7 6-3 win over the Spaniard, who knocked out compatriot Feliciano Lopez in the last round.
Number seventeen seed Gasquet looked assured in the first set and served strongly to comfortably take it 6-2.
Many then would have anticipated the 25-year-old to go on to take the match in straight sets but Ramos responded well to edge the second 7-5.
Gasquet though showed his class to break the Spaniard's serve twice in the final set and secure victory.
