Simona Halep has secured a place in the semi-finals of the Madrid Open with a 6-2 6-2 victory over Ana Ivanovic.
It was a strong start for Ivanovic as she nabbed a break at the first time of asking, but Halep was able to bounce back instantly.
The 22-year-old stayed dominant on the court as she earned two further breaks of serve to clinch the first set.
It was a blow to Ivanovic, who lost her opening service game, but she managed to break back straight away by edging the point from an advantage.
Games continued by the way of serve until Halep nabbed a vital break, which allowed her to serve for the match and reach the final four.
