Angelique Kerber has knocked former champion Caroline Wozniacki out of the China Open at the third-round stage.
Wozniacki, the 2010 winner and eighth seed this year in Beijing, struggled on serve throughout as Kerber's return game proved too strong for the Dane.
Kerber, of Germany, broke Wozniacki's serve three times in the first set before saving six break points on her own serve when looking to clinch the opener.
She took her first set point to claim it 6-2 and continued her momentum at the start of the second.
The world number 10 raced into a 5-0 lead before eventually seeing off her opponent 6-3 to exact revenge for the defeat she suffered to Wozniacki recently in Tokyo.
Kerber will be up against fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska in the last eight after the Pole overcame Madison Keys.
