Johanna Konta has made a positive start to her Nottingham Open campaign courtesy of a comfortable win over Kurumi Nara.
Konta faces an important summer with a large number of ranking points to defend on the grass, and the British number one has helped her cause with a 6-2 6-3 win over Nara.
The world number 22 registered four breaks of serve to set up a second-round showdown with Heather Watson, who defeated Danielle Lao earlier on Tuesday.
Katie Boulter - the British number four - is also through after registering one of the wins of her career against Yanina Wickmayer, with the 21-year-old prevailing by a 6-4 6-4 scoreline.
However, youngsters Gabriella Taylor and Katie Swan both suffered tough defeats after being handed a wildcard and coming through qualifying respectively.
Taylor faced last year's champion Donna Vekic and lost out 5-7 7-5 6-7, while Swan competed well with Mona Barthel before succumbing 7-6 7-5.
