Kyle Edmund has reached his first Masters Series quarter-final with a dominant win over David Goffin in Madrid.
The British number one produced one of the best performances of his career to overcome former world number one Novak Djokovic on Wednesday, but Thursday's controlled display was more than enough to see off the eighth seed by a 6-3 6-3 scoreline.
Edmund broke Goffin's serve during the early stages of the contest and it set the tone as the 23-year-old dropped just four points behind his own delivery in the opening set.
Goffin improved during the second but dropping serve again midway through the set gave Edmund the momentum and despite missing out on two match points, Edmund converted his third to claim victory in just 72 minutes.
Edmund - who will move into the world's top 20 when the rankings are updated on Monday - will now face either Denis Shapovalov or Milos Raonic for a place in the semi-finals.
