Rafael Nadal has come from one set down to defeat Marin Cilic to advance to the semi-finals of the ATP 500 Basel.
The first set proved to be a close contest as neither player gave away anything on serve, until the Spaniard made the crucial error when he missed on a forehand down the line to hand a set-winning break to Cilic.
The Croatian used his momentum to have a strong start to the second by earning another break to take a 2-0 lead. However, Nadal responded by breaking back and he upped the quality of his game to secure a second break, which allowed him to take the set 6-3.
Nadal put the pressure on Cilic from the opening game of the third set as he secured another break, while he managed to fend off the challenge of the 27-year-old on serve to clinch the match with a 6-3 win in the third.
The 29-year-old will face Richard Gasquet in the last four.
