Kei Nishikori has eased into the third round of the Madrid Masters following a 6-3 6-1 win over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez this evening.
The Barcelona Open champion lost a break early in the first set, but quickly levelled before making a series of well-timed forehands to comfortably wrap up the opener.
The Spaniard offered little resistance in the second set, saving just one of the four break points that he faced in the opening six games, allowing Nishikori to race to a 5-1 lead.
While serving for the match, the Japanese player fired his forehand long while trying to wrap up the meeting, but managed to convert his match point next time around to progress after just over an hour on court.
Nishikori will face Canada's Milos Raonic in the third round.
