Kei Nishikori has grabbed a place in the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open following a close 7-6(5) 7-6(5) victory over Milos Raonic.
It was a tight affair between the two opponents on the clay surface, with games going by the way of serve until Raonic clinched the first break
However, the first set required a tie-break to decide the outcome and it was Nishikori who edged it by two points to take the lead.
In the second set, neither player could force through a break point, which resulted in yet another tie-break, once again won by the Japanese pro.
