Tsvetana Pironkova has booked a place in the semi-finals of the Sydney International by securing a 7-6[2] 6-3 victory over Sara Errani.
It was a close contest between the competitors in the first set as games were won by the way of serve.
A tie-break was eventually needed to separate the two, which Pironkova took advantage of and came out on top 7-2, leaving Errani with the task of launching a comeback.
Despite showing some good skill across the court, Errani was unable to make it count as Pironkova saw out the second set 6-3 to claim a place in the final four.
