Top-seed Rafael Nadal has reached the last 16 of the Rio Open thanks to a straight-sets win over Pablo Carreno Busta.
On a wet and windy day on Brazil's east coast, the first-round contest was disrupted for an hour due to rain, but Nadal was able to come through 6-1 6-4.
He will face fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in the second round.
Reigning champion David Ferrer also made comfortable progress as he beat Nicolas Jarry in straight sets, but British number two Aljaz Bedene was knocked out by Fabio Fognini.
