Roger Federer has comfortably reached the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters courtesy of a 6-4 6-2 victory over Roberto Bautista-Agut.
Games went by the way of serve in the first set, with neither player able to convert their break-point opportunities.
The deadlock was broken in the 10th game by Federer, and one break was all that was needed to take a one-set lead in China.
The former world number one struck early in the second set as Bautista-Agut lost his serve and failed to recover as Federer broke again to wrap up the set and the contest.
Federer will take on Julien Benneteau in the next round.
