David Ferrer has booked his place in the last 16 of the Miami Masters by defeating Lukas Rosol 6-4 7-5.
Rosol was wasteful with his break-point chances in the opening set, with two chances in game one and four in game five all going to waste.
Ferrer took the first break in game six, but it was seventh time lucky for Rosol as he finally won a break point in game nine. The seventh seed broke straight back though, to take the first set 6-4.
Both players' service games improved dramatically in the second set, with neither giving up a break-point chance until the final game.
Ferrer struggled to finish the match, failing with four match points in the final game, but finally won at the fifth time of asking, after a mammoth game spanning five deuces to take the second set 7-5.
The Spaniard will play either Gilles Simon or Alejandro Falla in the next round.
