Yanina Wickmayer overcomes Mona Barthel in the quarter-final of the WTA Paris Open 6-4 6-7 6-3.
The match began with Barthel breaking Wickmayer's serve early on to race into a 3-03 lead. The German seemed to be ready to take the first set with ease, but Wickmayer fought back and broke serve herself to make it 3-3.
The Belgian managed to move into a 5-4 lead, before serving for the first set to take it 6-4.
Barthel came out for the second set much like the first, after finding her range of shots once again. The 21-year-old took control early and broke serve twice to take a 5-0 lead over Wickmayer.
The Belgian staged another impressive comeback and broke serve three times in a row to bring it level to 5-5. The set eventually went to a tie-break in which Barthel won 7-3 to claim the second 7-6.
Wickmayer eventually claimed the third set 6-3 to win the match by two sets to one. The 22-year-old now heads into the semi-finals to face Angelique Kerber.
