Kyle Edmund has defeated Jordan Thompson to move through to the second round at the Olympic Games.
The Great Britain representative went into the match having played just once since his contribution in the Davis Cup quarter-finals, but he looked back to his best against his Australian opponent.
Edmund broke Thompson's serve in the opening game of the match before holding convincingly to move closer to an appearance in the next round in Rio de Janeiro.
Thompson held at the start of the second but that was as good as it got as Edmund broke twice to seal a 6-4 6-2 victory.
Edmund will now play Taro Daniel after the Japanese player earned a surprise win over American Jack Sock.
