Belinda Bencic has dumped number five seed Ana Ivanovic out of the Rogers Cup with a straight-sets victory in the quarter finals of the tournament.
The two players battled out a tight first set as they both struggled to hold serve, but the 18-year-old won a vital third break to clinch the set 6-4.
Bencic dominated the second set as she raced into a 4-0 lead, breaking Ivanovic twice. Although the Serb managed to haul two games back, Bencic held out to secure a 6-2 win and earn a place in the semi-finals of the competition.
The Swiss will play Serena Williams in the last four of the tournament.
