Julien Benneteau has caused an upset in the Shanghai Masters by beating Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets.
The experienced Frenchman recorded a 7-5 6-3 victory over the 10th seed to reach the last 16 in China.
Dimitrov drew first blood when he broke in the fourth game of the opener, but Benneteau replied immediately to level the set and nearly broke again in game nine when the Bulgarian saved three break points.
The 32-year-old did grab a crucial second break at his next opportunity and went on to serve out for the first set, before taking this momentum into the second where he broke Dimitrov again in game one.
The Wimbledon semi-finalist was unusually impotent on serve, while Benneteau did not concede a break point in the second, and he eventually succumbed to the world number 30 in less than 90 minutes.
