Japan's Kei Nishikori has progressed to the second round of the Shanghai Masters after he defeated Wu Di in straight sets.
The world number 15, who won last week's Japan Open, comfortably saw off the Chinese wildcard 6-2 6-4.
Niskikori broke his opponent's serve three times on the way to taking the opening set against the world number 179.
The second set was a much closer affair as Wu began to improve in front of his home crowd, but a solitary break from Nishikori was enough to see him move through to face Sam Querrey.
