James Ward will play Kevin Anderson in the first round of the Shanghai Masters after he defeated Viktor Troicki in the final qualifying round.
The British number two was arguably the underdog against the Serbian, who is making his way back up the world rankings after a year-long ban for failing to provide a blood sample at last year's Monte Carlo Masters, but he produced a fine display to beat the former world number 12.
One break of serve was enough for Ward to take the opener, but he dominated the second set with three more to run out a convincing 6-4 6-1 winner.
It's the third time that Ward has progressed through to the main draw of a Masters Series event in 2014 after previously doing the same in Indian Wells and Cincinnati.
Ward's match against the 16th seed will take place on Monday, while Andy Murray will begin his campaign against Teymuraz Gabashvili on Tuesday.
