Stanislas Wawrinka has moved into the third round of the Shanghai Masters following a 7-6 6-3 victory over Serbia's Viktor Troicki.
The Swiss player made a slow start to proceedings, allowing Troicki to break in the early stages of the first set. However, he recovered to secure a break of his own and level the scores. The set remained level and entered a tie-break, which Wawrinka claimed 7-3.
Wawrinka began the second set stronger, racing into a 3-0 lead after errors from Troicki allowed him to break in the second game.
The world number four maintained his three-game advantage and almost broke again at 5-2 up to secure victory, although Troicki saved two match points before winning the game.
Wawrinka, though, was not to be denied and he wrapped up the match in his next game.
