Spain's 11th seed Nicolas Almagro has reached the quarter-finals of the men's Olympic singles thanks to a comfortable straight-sets win over Steve Darcis of Belgium.
Almagro broke early in the first set before Darcis came back with a break of his own to make it 3-4. However, the Spaniard broke again to take the opening set 7-5.
The world number 10 strengthened his grip on the contest with a break at 3-2 before going on to serve out the match 6-3.
Almagro will now take on either Great Britain's Andy Murray or Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis for a semi-final spot.
