Venus Williams has admitted that she is excited over the prospect of meeting sister Serena in the US Open, but acknowledged that there is still work to be done.
Williams, 35, beat Belinda Bencic 6-3 6-4 on Friday to reach the fourth round of the competition for the first time in five years.
Victory over qualifier Anett Kontaveit would see the two-time champion progress into the quarter-finals, where she could meet younger sister and world number one Serena, 33.
"Of course I have thought about it, and I would like us to have that moment so we can see how it is," she is quoted as saying by the New York Post.
"We both have to get there. I think we both have a great opportunity to do so, but there are no givens."
Serena Williams faces Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the third round, where progression would set up a fourth-round match with Madison Keys or Agnieszka Radwanska.
The reigning champion is also vying for a calendar Grand Slam, having won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon earlier this year.
Serena has won 15 of the 26 previous senior competitive meetings with her sibling.
