Japan's Kei Nishikori became the first man to book his place in round two of the US Open thanks to a routine victory over Guido Andreozzi this evening.
Argentine Andreozzi, who was appearing in his first ever Grand Slam, struggled to contend with Nishikori's trademark pace around the court during the opening two sets of the match.
As a result, Nishikori dropped just three games on his way to opening up a 6-1 6-2 lead.
Twenty-one-year-old Andreozzi provided more resistance in the third set, holding his serve on four occasions, a feat that was matched by Nishikori.
However, the Japanese number one then claimed the decisive break of serve, before serving out to win the match with a 6-4 success.
He will now face either Tim Smyczek or Bobby Reynolds for a place in round three.
