Number three seed Agnieszka Radwanska has crashed out of the US Open in the fourth round following a straight-sets defeat to Ekaterina Makarova.
The number 24 seed impressed throughout the evening with some impressive groundstrokes against the Pole, which knocked her out of rhythm to earn a crucial break as she claimed the first set 6-4.
Radwanska rallied in the second and looked close to taking the match into a deciding set at 4-3, but Makarova hit back with two breaks as he advanced into the quarter-finals with 6-4 victory.
Makarova will now play Li Na in the last eight.
