Switzerland's Roger Federer says that he plans to continue playing tennis for many more years despite his early exit from this year's Wimbledon.

Roger Federer has dismissed talks of him retiring following his second-round exit from this year's Wimbledon.

The defending champion lost in four sets to Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky on Centre Court earlier this evening.

"You don't panic at this point, that's clear," BBC Sport quotes the world number three as saying.

"It's normal that after all of a sudden losing early, having being in Grand Slam quarter-finals 36 [consecutive] times, people feel it's different, but I still have plans to play for many more years to come."

The 31-year-old has won 17 Grand Slam singles titles during his career, including seven at SW19.
