David Ferrer: 'Andy Murray is better than me'

Spain's David Ferrer insists that Andy Murray is the favourite heading into the quarter-final clash at Wimbledon.

David Ferrer has insisted that Andy Murray is a better player than he is ahead of their quarter-final meeting at Wimbledon tomorrow afternoon.

The pair have met each other 10 times in recent years, with both claiming five wins apiece.

However, they have never met on grass - something that Spanish number two Ferrer believes makes Murray the favourite to advance through to the semi-finals in front of his own supporters.

"Of course it is a very important match because it is the quarter-final of Wimbledon but I will try to focus on every point," he told reporters. "I don't want to think about the people, about the expectation around this match. Maybe he has more pressure than me because he plays at home with your people.

"I played him four weeks ago on a clay court and now I will play with him on a grass court. He's the favourite player [to win] because he's better than me, and tomorrow I will try to do my best.

"I will have to play my best tennis to beat him. It's very difficult to beat Andy on all surfaces, but on a grass court it is more difficult."

Ferrer had never previously reached the final eight at SW19.
