The harris hawk that was stolen from Wimbledon has been returned safe and well.
Rufus, who is kept at the All England Club in order to keep pigeons away from the grounds, disappeared along with his cage between Thursday night and Friday morning.
Police confirmed yesterday that he had been handed in to the RSPCA in Putney and he has now been reunited with his owners.
The bird's twitter account, which is updated by his owners, announced: "We can confirm the news is true RUFUS HAS BEEN FOUND safe and well & reunited with family!! Thank you so much for your support #FindRufus."
Four-year-old Rufus had been taken from a car parked on a private drive with the rear window open to provide ventilation.
