Former British number two Dan Evans has failed in his bid to qualify for Wimbledon after losing in straight sets to Yuichi Sugita.
The Birmingham-based player missed out on a fourth appearance at SW19 as his Japanese opponent prevailed 7-6(6) 6-2 7-5 in their third qualifying-round clash.
Evans appeared on the verge of winning the first-set tie-break, only to see Sugita fight back to take it 8-6. The world number 493 held off the Brit's challenge thereafter to comfortably confirm his place in the main draw.
Former Davis Cup player Evans, who has fallen to 752nd in the world, was the sole Briton left in the qualifying rounds after Joshua Milton and Edward Corrie bowed out in the second-round stage.
Andy Murray will be joined in the men's singles draw by British wildcard entrants Liam Broady, Kyle Edmund, Brydan Klein and James Ward.
