Former British number two Dan Evans has recorded a three-set victory over Matthias Bachinger to move one match away from the Wimbledon main draw.
In 2013, Evans beat Kei Nishikori and Bernard Tomic on the way to the US Open third round, but injuries and loss of form have seen him fall down to 752 in the world rankings.
However, he is just one match away from a fourth appearance at Wimbledon after saving a match point on the way to a 6-4 0-6 7-5 triumph over world number 109 Bachinger, which sets up a match with Yuichi Sugita.
British compatriot Joshua Milton has bowed out at the second-round stage, though, losing 6-1 2-6 6-4 to the experienced Michael Berrer, while Edward Corrie fell to a 6-3 7-5 setback against Inigo Cervantes.
Sixteen-year-old Katie Swan has missed out on the chance to make her debut at SW19 after she lost 6-3 6-3 to two-time Wimbledon quarter-finalist Tamira Paszek.
There were also defeats for Tara Moore and Katy Dunne in qualifying for the women's draw, with the two British players losing to Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Richel Hogenkamp respectively.
