Angelique Kerber has booked her place in the second round of Wimbledon thanks to a straight-sets win over American Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
Both players exchanged service breaks at the start of the first set before Kerber, seeded seventh, clinched it 6-3.
The German's experience then showed in the second as she closed out the contest 6-4.
Kerber, who reached the semi-finals last year, will meet either British wildcard Tara Moore or Estonia's Kaia Kanepi in round two of the tournament.
