Johanna Konta's Wimbledon campaign has got off to a positive start after Britain's number one defeated Monica Puig in a rain-affected first round at the All England Club.
The 25-year-old sealed a 6-1 7-5 victory over her Puerto Rican opponent, whose best finish at SW19 was the fourth round in 2013.
It was a strong start from Konta as she swiftly went a double break up on the grass court, while her opponent could only get one game on the board.
Konta's momentum was halted in the second set due to the poor weather conditions, which forced the match to be suspended until Wednesday.
Both players returned to the court today, and Konta had to come from a break down, but she managed to bounce back to snatch Puig's serve to draw 4-4 on games.
Puig served to stay in the set, but she was unable to hold on as the Brit broke to complete the match.
