Petra Kvitova has booked her spot in the fourth round of Wimbledon with a 6-3 2-6 6-3 victory over Ekaterina Makarova on Saturday.
Both players served well in the early stages of the first set, but consecutive breaks for Kvitova in the latter stages allowed the Czech to open up a one-set lead.
Kvitova also took control of the second in the early stages, holding serve before breaking to move 2-0 ahead. However, three consecutive breaks for Makarova allowed the Russian to level the match at one-set-all.
Five breaks of serve occurred in the third and final set, including three of the last four games, but it was Kvitova who managed to hold at 5-3 to book her spot in the next round of the competition.
