Xavier Malisse has secured a Wimbledon scalp by beating 13th seed Gilles Simon 6-4 6-4 7-6[5] in the second round at SW19.
The Belgium professional started the contest on the front foot, while his French opponent struggled to find his form and take a hold on the match.
Malisse snatched the first break of the game, which enabled him to launch through the first set with ease, while Simon was left scratching his head and searching for answers.
The second set produced much of the same, with Simon failing to hold on to his serve while Malisse controlled the court with some impressive forehand strokes across the net.
After taking the second set Malisse had a battle on his hands as Simon attempted to force a comeback by pushing the set to a tie-break, but unfortunately for the Frenchman his attempts came to nothing as Malisse won the tie-break and the match.
