Kei Nishikori has advanced into the second round of Wimbledon following a 6-4 7-6(5) 7-5 victory over Kenny de Schepper on Tuesday.
The first set brought just one break of serve, with Nishikori breaking at 1-1 before eventually closing out the opener on serve.
Both players continued to serve well in the second set, which led to a tie-break. Once more it was Nishikori that emerged victorious despite trailing 3-0 early on. Five successive points allowed Nishikori to move 5-3 ahead in the breaker, before eventually taking it 7-5 with a strong forehand.
It was a similar story in the third and what proved to be final set, with Nishikori breaking just once at 5-6 to advance into the next round.
