Rafael Nadal is sent crashing out of Wimbledon at the hands of Australian Nick Kyrgios.

Rafael Nadal has been sent crashing out of Wimbledon at the hands of Australian teen Nick Kyrgios.

Kyrgios fought his way to a historic 7-6(5) 5-7 7-6(5) 6-3 victory over the Spaniard to become the first player from outside the world's top 100 to beat the number one player in 22 years.

The 19-year-old dominated his own serve throughout the opening set, losing just three points as Nadal struggled to get any sort of breakthrough.

Nadal also managed to hold serve in the first set, forcing a tie-break that Kyrgios edged 7-5 having raced into a 4-0 lead.

The second set was more of the same as both players looked impenetrable on their own serve, but Nadal finally made progress with his first break point of the match in the final game.

Kyrgios survived the first set point with the score 6-5 in Nadal's favour, but the number two seed earned another and this time took full advantage to restore parity.

The third set saw just the one break point throughout as Kyrgios again survived to force a tie-break, which he won 7-5 once more to restore his lead.

The world number 144 then recorded just the second break of the match in the fourth game of the final set to gain control, and he went on serve it out for a famous victory that sends Nadal tumbling out of Wimbledon early once more.

Kyrgios, who is a wildcard entry to SW19, will now face Milos Raonic for a place in the semi-finals.
