Coco Vandeweghe has continued her impressive run at Wimbledon by seeing off the challenge of sixth seed Lucie Safarova in the fourth round.
The American, who thrashed Samantha Stosur in the last 32, came through by a 7-6 7-6 scoreline to reach the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time.
A fiercely-contested opening set saw both players register a break of serve, but it was Vandeweghe who moved ahead after dominating a tie-break, eventually taking it by a 7-1 scoreline.
Safarova had the edge during the second but despite being a break to the good, she couldn't see out the set and that allowed Vandeweghe to hit back for 5-5.
Both players held serve to move into another tie-break, but it was Vandeweghe, the world number 47, who held her nerve to progress through to the last eight.
