Roberta Vinci has been dumped out of Wimbledon at the third-round stage following defeat at the hands of Coco Vandeweghe.
The sixth seed, who also exited the French Open early on, fell to a 6-3 6-4 loss on Sunday afternoon.
Vandeweghe, currently ranked at 30th in the world, held serve throughout the opening set and was able to break her opponent in the fourth game to grab an early advantage.
Both players struggled to hold in the second set, but it was Vinci who came out second best as Vandeweghe composed herself to get over the line in straight sets.
Timea Bacsinszky or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who are scheduled to face off later today, now awaits Vandeweghe in the last 16 of the Grand Slam event.
