Andy Roddick sees off the challenge of Great Britain's Jamie Baker during their round one match at Wimbledon.

Andy Roddick advanced through to round two of Wimbledon this evening at the expense of Great Britain's Jamie Baker.

For Baker it proved to be a match of missed opportunities, having failed to take numerous break points on the Roddick serve.

Two of those chances arose in the opening set, while Roddick failed to trouble Baker's serve at all. With neither able to register a break, a tie-break was required to determine a victor.

Baker struggled from the outset to get any momentum as he eventually lost out 7-1 to the American.

Bad light stopped play for the day with the scores level at two games apiece in the second set. When they returned earlier today, Roddick claimed a quick break of serve, before holding his own to open up a 4-2 advantage.

The former world number one eventually served out for a 6-4 success to leave him one set away from victory.

More break points fell Baker's way in the third set, but once again he failed to make the most of them.

The set appeared to be heading for another breaker with the scores level at five games each. However, Roddick broke to take a 6-5 lead, before keeping his composure on his serve to seal the victory.
